Cool things in Paris
There are some great things to do in Paris. Check out City Segway Tours which offer Segway “walking tours” of Paris – without any walking! Glide through the venerable City of Light in high-tech luxury aboard a Segway scooter. The Segway is the first of its kind – a self-balancing, personal transportation device that’s designed to operate in any pedestrian environment. So if you want to try something cool then take a tour with these guys.
Then when you’ve finished scooting around Paris, there are so many trendy bars and clubs that you just have to go to! Grab a cab to the hip Rue Oberkampf where you can start a bar crawl. Great bars include the Brazilian Berimbar, where they serve loony-strong le planteur cocktails – essentially alcoholic Um-Bongo and the Abats-Jours à Coudre – a jumble sale of a place with Singer sowing machines on every table and a banlieue graffiti/Picasso thing covering the walls. After the bars, get down to a club like Rex, a prime venue for electronic music for a decade or more. For more clubs, check the Paris clubbing guide from TimeOut.
Cool things in Brussels
One thing you need to buy is a Manneken Pass. This special pass costs only €5 for people under 26 and gives you loads. A map of Brussels & métro system, free métro/tram/bus (for 24 hours), free internet connection, free beers, free brownies and you get discounts on the Hop on/Hop off bus tour of the city, and at the Atomium, which is a 103 metre tall monument built for Expo ’58 with nine steel spheres connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Also located at the foot of the Atomium, is Mini-Europe where you also get a discount and where you can have a whitlestop tour around Europe in a few short hours!
Then once you’ve done your sight-seeing, onto some fantastic nightlife in Brussels! If you fancy a cocktail bar, Dali’s bar, with its surreal design, bright colours and house, R&B, soul and acid jazz playlist, is the place for you. Or if you want a bar with a DJ, head to Pablo Discobar. It’s ideal for early evening with quality music and a good atmosphere. The speciality of this Brussels hot-spot is its “Shakers” which you can drink until 8pm for a great price. Then clubs! Well two of the best clubs in Brussels are Dirty Dancing and Fuse offering great places to shake your thing!
